A topographical survey records what is actually on a site and at what level — ground levels, contours, boundaries, existing structures, trees, drains, and services. It becomes the base drawing that site layout, road levels, drainage design, and earthwork quantities are all developed from.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a topographical survey and a contour survey?
They are closely related. A topographical survey records levels together with boundaries, structures, and features. A contour survey focuses on ground levels and the contours generated from them. In practice most projects need both, and they are usually delivered as one exercise.
What contour interval should be specified?
It depends on terrain and purpose. Relatively flat sites and detailed drainage design need closer intervals; broad planning over undulating ground can work with wider ones. We will advise against your design requirement.
What deliverables do you provide?
CAD survey drawings showing levels, contours, boundaries, and features, along with the underlying level data and details of the benchmarks established on site.
How long does a survey take?
It depends on site area, terrain, vegetation, and the level of detail required. A typical individual plot is quick; large layouts or heavily vegetated sites take considerably longer.
Can the survey be combined with soil investigation?
Yes, and there is a real advantage in doing so. When both are carried out together, borehole positions and levels are recorded against the same survey control, so the geotechnical data ties directly to the survey drawing.
